Kobe Day at Ted Johnson Propane

On January 26, 2020, a tragic event happened where a helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna, and seven others crashed near Calabasas, California while traveling to a basketball game at Bryant’s Mamba Sports Academy where Kobe was meant to coach Gianna’s game. Gianna’s teammates Alyssa Altobelli (14), Payton Chester (13), their parents Keri and John Altobelli, Sarah Chester, assistant coach Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan sadly passed during this crash too. People around the world were shocked to hear about the news because of how abrupt it came out. I remember being with my friends when I heard about it and I thought that there was no way that could be true.

Today, February 24, 2020, a memorial service was held for Kobe at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to honor and remember the life he lived and the lives he impacted. Family, friends, and fans from all over traveled to attend or watch the service online to observe his life through speeches made by his wife, Vanessa Bryant, friends like Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal, and music performances by Beyonce and Alicia Keys.

Vanessa said of Kobe and Gianna, “God knew they couldn’t be on this earth without each other.
He had to bring them home to heaven together”

In honor of his memorial service being today, Ted Johnson Propane decided to wear our Laker gear or Laker colors to work to celebrate the life him and his daughter lived and to show support to his wife, family, and close friends who have also suffered from this.

As Shaq said in his speech during the tribute, “Now it is time for us to continue your legacy. So we now take your sage advice to now rise from anguish and begin with the healing.” Kobe will continue to live on through us.

Everyone here at Ted Johnson Propane sends out our condolences with deepest sympathy!
